StraiTek’s Rapid Tooling services provide the medical, defense, and consumer products industries with customized tools they require for specific applications. Our expedited delivery means that our customers get the tools they need–when they need them–to get their products to market typically with reduced costs and lead times, all without compromising on product design or part quality.
StraiTek offers a wide range of tooling options based on customer criteria, such as resin type, tool life, part tolerances, and surface finish requirements. Depending on part complexity and tool type, our Rapid Tooling lead times generally range from two to five weeks. The majority of tools we produce are comprised of a combination of pre-hardened and hardened steel, although aluminum may be used for very low-volume applications.
Our Rapid Tooling Process
Our process is based on the requirements outlined by our customers to provide the most cost-effective solution available. During the mold design process, we carefully review your supplied part data. If we have recommendations for part modifications to maintain tool integrity and part moldability, we share them with you before proceeding, securing your approval. Our tools are designed using state-of-the-art Cimatron CAD/CAM software and the mold design data is also shared with you, if required. Throughout the process, we work closely with you on gating and ejection scenarios and mold construction so that lessons learned during the prototyping phase can be shared with the high-volume production molder when required.
